G. Nelson Zinn
WELLSVILLE – G. Nelson Zinn, 88, entered into rest at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at his home. He was the loving husband of Charmaine (Paxton) Zinn. The couple celebrated 63 years of marriage on January 1, 2024.
Born January 20, 1936 in York, Nelson was a son of the late George W. and Ruth (Angevine) Zinn.
He graduated from Dover High School in 1954.
Nelson worked as a wire stretcher for ESAB in Hanover and previously worked for Medusa Concrete.
He was an avid hunter, loved being outdoors and loved walking and spending time with his dog "Lady". Nelson enjoyed spending quality time with his great grandchildren playing cards and board games.
Nelson enjoyed traveling with his wife, family and friends. They visited many states out west, also in the northeast corner and Disney World with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed going on bus trips with the mall walkers and visiting casinos. He liked playing cards with the card club members and his family.
After retirement, Nelson kept himself busy by volunteering at the Wellsville Fire Hall, helping with banquets, making peanut butter eggs and helping sell chicken corn/ham and bean soup during the Wellsville Carnival. He also worked part-time at Markey's Building Maintenance, Inc.
In addition to his wife, Nelson is survived by three daughters, Charlene Knaub and husband, Bob of Dover, Shirley Dennis of Kansas and Nancy Sausser of New Cumberland; two sons, Ricky Zinn of Wellsville and Terry Zinn and wife, Suzann of Lewisberry; eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Nelson’s funeral at 11 a.m. and the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Salem Union Cemetery, Dover. Officiating will be Chaplain Tim Brown.
